Due to tremendous tourism in the area, rentals can be limited. We strongly encourage you to make rental and taxi reservations well in advance of your arrival to Bar Harbor.

Although this service is the most economical transport avalable from the Bangor Airport, the Bar Harbor-Bangor shuttle service frequently changes their scheduled departures in order to fill their seats, be sure to contact them the day before your scheduled pick-up to re-confirm the times. Two shops rent bicycles, by the day or the week. Both are located on Cottage Street in downtown Bar Harbor, an easy biking distance from both the lab and Highseas Conference Center.

The visitor parking lot for the main laboratory campus is on the left after the blinking light on Rt. 3.

| From here continue on straight past the entrance to Acadia National Park, and the Ferry to Nova Scotia, you will then come to an intersection, stay straight on Rt 3 until you come to the second intersection with a stop sign. The Quality Inn will be across the street on your right. Turn left here (still Rt 3) and go the next stop sign, intersection of Mt. Desert and Main Street, turn right onto Main Street (still Rt 3) and go about 1.5 miles. The Jackson Laboratory will be on the left at the top of a long hill. and the visitors' parking lot is the first left after the blinking light. If you arrive after regular business hours, there is a phone in the main entrance vestibule, pick up the receiver and it automatically rings through to the security office. |
Directions to the Clarence Cook Little Auditorium and Main Lab Entrance
As you approach the Lab on Rt. 3, continue past the crosswalk and blinking yellow light as well as the associated parking lot on the right. After you pass the main lab building and parking lot mentioned above, the visitors' parking lot is on the left. Park in the visitors' parking lot and follow the signs to the main entrance.
Directions to Woodlands Cottages
Please go to The Jackson Laboratory Main Entrance and pick up your key from Security. At that time you will receive directions, it is very closeby.
Directions to Highseas Conference Center
From Rt 3 at Compass Harbor Condominiums and Ocean Drive Dairy Bar. Turn left before the Ocean Drive Dairy Bar onto Schooner Head Rd. Stay straight past The Jackson Laboratory Service Entrance and follow this road approximately 1.4 miles (from Dairy Bar). The Highseas sign will be located on the left at the driveway entrance. Please check with the course or meeting administrator for parking details. Parking in the turn around is prohibited by state law. Guest parking at Highseas Conference Center is adjacent to the building and very limited.
Directions from Bangor International Airport
Immediately upon leaving the airport parking lot, set the mileage at 0. The remainder of the directions give the mileage reading from this point.
Follow I-395 towards Bar Harbor, Ellsworth until exit 6A which is RT1 Bar Harbor, Ellsworth. Follow RT1 to Ellsworth. Just before McDonald's RT1 veers to the left but RT3 continues straight. Continue straight on RT3 to Bar Harbor and follow RT3 through town as it goes left and then right. Outside of town past the Ocean Drive Dairy Bar, The Jackson Laboratory will be just over the hill on your left. Parking is located across the street.

| 2.5 | Stop light with sign for I-395. Turn left towards Bar Harbor. You will be on Interstate 395. |
| 3.7 | Continue on I-395 but keep in the 2 left lanes because the road will split shortly. Stay in the lanes that say to RT1A - Ellsworth, Bar Harbor |
