Highses Conference Center

Highseas is a forty room mansion perched on the cliffs overlooking the entrance to Frenchman Bay, and is surrounded by Acadia National Park land. The house was donated to The Jackson Laboratory by the Morris Family Estate and has been used for educational programming and lodging since 1951. Highseas has a curious history, hides a secret staircase and overlooks breathtaking land- and seascapes.

House amenities include a game room, library, conference room and music room with a piano waiting to be played. There is wireless internet access throughout the building. Public computers are available. Washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment are provided.

A highly experienced resident chef/facility manager prepares meals for all residents and is available for general information and assitance. Self-serve snacks and beverages are available around the clock.

Participants are typically assigned one to three roommates of same gender. Bathrooms are shared with residents of the same gender. Bed linens, housekeeping services, alarm clocks and basic dormitory-style bedroom furniture are provided (twin beds).

Van transportation to various scheduled activities is provided. Fior personal recreation information, Highseas is within walking or biking distance from the laboratory main campus, the national park, and the town of Bar Harbor. Nearby recreational activities include hiking, biking, shopping, movies, boat excursions and sampling the local restaurants and pubs.
