Workshop on Comprehensive Approaches to the in vivo Assessment of Cardiovascular Function in Mice

This workshop focuses on the assessment of cardiovascular function in mouse models. This is a comprehensive program which includes didactic lectures by leaders in the field of cardiovascular physiology, pharmacology, pathology and hands on workshops.
Sessions will focus on non-invasive high-resolution echocardiography, telemetry (Data Sciences International) and catheter-dependent (ADInstruments) approaches to monitoring cardiovascular parameters in vivo. The final day will cover methods for analyzing data collected during the course of the workshop as well as study design and statistical analysis. Surgical and anesthetic techniques will also be taught.
This workshop can be used for continuing education units for AALAS recertification.

Hotel/Travel

Lodging accommodations will be at Highseas Conference Center, a Georgian style mansion built in 1912. Highseas is perched on the cliffs overlooking the entrance to Frenchman Bay and is surrounded by beautiful Acadia National Park. This is casual, dormitory-style housing consisting of shared bedrooms and bathrooms (minimum double occupancy, some triple and quad rooms). Wireless internet access is provided throughout the building. Laundry facilities are available on site. Transportation will be provided from the conference center to the course venue for the duration of the workshop. Highseas cannot accommodate families, please contact the event planner for information about off-campus lodging alternatives. Participants are responsible for all travel booking, including airport transportation.
Air
Bar Harbor is served by two airports:
- Hancock County/Bar Harbor Airport (BHB)
- Bangor Airport (BGR)
- New visa rules by the U.S. State Department now in effect. Beginning in August 2008, visitors traveling to the U.S. from visa waiver countries (i.e. Europe, Japan, Australia, etc.) will have to register online 3 days in advance of travel.
Car
Bar Harbor is approximately 6 hours by car from the greater Boston area.
