Workshop on Surgical Techniques in the Laboratory Mouse

This five-day intensive hands-on workshop is for those wishing to obtain practical training in surgical techniques for the laboratory mouse. A wide range of surgical procedures are taught and students are encouraged to submit requests for specific procedures. In addition to surgical procedures, topics covered include aseptic surgical technique, injection techniques and submandibular blood collection.

This workshop can be used for continuing education units for AALAS recertification.

Hotel/Travel

Lodging accommodations will be at Highseas Conference Center, a spacious mansion built in 1912, overlooking the entrance to Frenchman Bay and adjacent to beautiful Acadia National Park. The registration fee includes lodging (minimum double occupancy) from April 29th through latest checkout on the morning of May 5th. Transportation will be provided from the conference center to the course venue for the duration of the course. Highseas cannot accommodate families, please contact the meeting planner for information about off-campus lodging alternatives.

Travel


Air

Bar Harbor is served by two airports:

New visa rules by the U.S. State Department now in effect beginning in August 2008, visitors traveling to the U.S. from visa waiver countries (i.e. Europe, Japan, Australia, etc.) will have to register online 3 days in advance of travel.

Car

Bar Harbor is approximately 6 hours by car from the greater Boston area.
