This five-day intensive hands-on workshop is for those wishing to obtain practical training in surgical techniques for the laboratory mouse. A wide range of surgical procedures is taught and students are encouraged to submit requests for specific procedures. In addition to surgical procedures, topics covered include aseptic surgical technique, injection techniques and submandibular blood collection.Organizers

We are pleased to announce that the registration fee remains the same as the 2008 fee. It includes course materials, meals, and lodging at Highseas Conference Center.
$1,500, $1,200 students (requires proof of enrollment in an accredited degree program, or postdoc training, or medical internship.)
The October 2009 Workshop is currently full, however we are accepting applications for the waiting list. All accepted applicants who are on the waiting list for this workshop will be transferred to the 2010 workshops (tentatively planned for April, May and Septemeber). Free out-of-print books about the laboratory mouse provided online. If you are not familiiar with mouse anatomy you might find the advance reading helpful.

Lodging accommodations will be at Highseas Conference Center, a spacious mansion built in 1912, overlooking the entrance to Frenchman Bay and adjacent to beautiful Acadia National Park. The registration fee includes lodging (minimum double occupancy) from October 11th through latest checkout on Saturday morning October 17th. Transportation will be provided from the conference center to the course venue for the duration of the course. Highseas cannot accommodate families, please contact the meeting planner for information about off-campus lodging alternatives.

Bar Harbor is served by two airports:
- Hancock County/Bar Harbor Airport (BHB)
- Bangor Airport (BGR)
New visa rules by the U.S. State Department now in effect beginning in August 2008, visitors traveling to the U.S. from visa waiver countries (i.e. Europe, Japan, Australia, etc.) will have to register online 3 days in advance of travel.
