8th Annual Workshop on the Pathology of Mouse Models for Human Disease

This workshop provides a week of intensive training sessions in pathology and histopathology as well as didactic sessions in which particular disease areas and models will be discussed. Participants will have an opportunity to interact with a group of prominent mouse pathologists and geneticists from leading research institutions.
Topics and models to be covered include: nomenclature, basic mouse genetics, concepts of mouse model generation, approaches to working up mutant mice, role of pathologists at research institutions, systemic, hematopoietic, mammary, gynecologic, cutaneous, infectious and immune system pathology, embryology and cancer models.
Workshop meets the requirements for 35 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions that recognize the AAVSB RACE approval; participants should be aware, however, that some boards have limitations on the number of hours accepted in certain categories and/or restrictions on certain methods of delivery of continuing education

We are very pleased to announce no increase in registration fees this year!
Registration Fee: $1,500 Applicants are not charged a fee until they have been formally accepted into the workshop. Registration and payment forms will be sent after acceptance.
The registration fee includes course materials, meals, and lodging at Highseas Conference Center.
Applicants must have a D.V.M. or M.D. degree, with preference given to pathologists and pathology residents. Applications by qualified women, persons with disabilities and minorities in the life sciences are highly encouraged. To apply for this event, please:

Lodging accommodations will be at Highseas Conference Center, a Georgian style mansion built in 1912. Highseas is perched on the cliffs overlooking the entrance to Frenchman Bay and is surrounded by beautiful Acadia National Park. This is casual, dormitory-style housing consisting of shared bedrooms and bathrooms (minimum double occupancy, some triple and quad rooms). Wireless internet access is provided throughout the building. Laundry facilities are available on site. Transportation will be provided from the conference center to the course venue for the duration of the course. Highseas cannot accomodate families, please contact the meeting planner for information about off-campus lodging alternatives. Participants are responsible for all travel booking, including airport transportation.

New visa rules by the U.S. State Department now in effectbeginning in August 2008, visitors traveling to the U.S. from visa waiver countries (i.e. Europe, Japan, Australia, etc.) will have to register online 3 days in advance of travel.
