Advanced Surgical Techniques in Mice: Thymectomy, Nephrectomy & Kidney Capsule Implant

The Jackson Laboratory and The Scripps Research Institute have teamed together to offer an advanced surgical workshop in mice.  This one day hands-on workshop will focus on thymectomy, nephrectomy & kidney capsule implant.  Aseptic techniques, basic mouse anatomy, instruction on handling, catheter selection and maintenance will also be covered.  Participants should have some basic surgery knowledge and the ability to work under a dissecting microscope.

This workshop can be used for continuing education units for AALAS recertification.

The workshop will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  We will teach thymectomy in the morning, break for lunch, and cover nephrectomy & kidney capsule implant in the afternoon

The workshop will take place in a secure building, so plan to arrive by 8:15 a.m.  The specific meeting location on The Scripps Research Institute campus will be provided to registered attendees.
