Short Course on Systems Genetics

This one-week course will cover computational and experimental approaches to geneticstudies that utilize whole genome approaches. Lectures and computer workshops are designed to accommodate students with a wide variety of backgrounds. Biologists seeking to gain a deeper understanding of statistical and computational methods as well as quantitative scientists desiring exposure to biological problems are welcome. Topics to be covered include genetic mapping, gene expression microarray analysis and computational modeling of complex systems.

$1,500, $1200 students (requires proof of enrollment in an accredited degree program, or postdoc training, or medical internship.)
The registration fee includes course materials, meals, and lodging at Highseas Conference Center.
Placement is limited to 35 participants so early application is advised. Enrollment will be limited to applicants with a doctoral degree or near completion of a doctoral degree. Applications will be accepted for consideration until the course is full.

-a letter of recommendation from your mentor or supervisor (only required if you do not hold a doctoral degree).
Travel Scholarships may be available on a limited basis to help pre- and post-doctoral students with travel expenses. Gender and minority status will be considered. Scholarship requests must be accompanied by a letter of support from the applicant's advisor.

Participants and some faculty reside together at Highseas Conference Center, a Georgian style mansion built in 1912. Highseas is perched on the cliffs overlooking the entrance to Frenchman Bay and surrounded by beautiful Acadia National Park. This is casual, dormitory-style housing, consisting of shared bedrooms and bathrooms. Wireless internet access is provided throughout the building. Laundry facilities are available on site.Travel
