Colony Management: Principles and Practices

This course provides training in the theory and practice of maintaining mouse colonies for production and research. This program is designed for scientists, colony managers, animal care technicians and students requiring an understanding of issues relating to the management of animal research and production colonies.

  • Reproductive biology of the laboratory mouse
  • Using assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs)

  • Production colony construction and maintenance
  • Nutrition
  • Genetic quality control
  • Public resources for mouse researchers
  • Colony Management System (JCMS) Computer Software

This course can be used for continuing education units for AALAS recertificaion.

Workshop meets the requirements for 15 hours of continuing education credit in jurisdictions that recognize the AAVSB RACE approval; participants should be aware, however, that some boards have limitations on the number of hours accepted in certain categories and/or restrictions on certain methods of delivery of continuing education
